Building a Dream: Design Your Perfect Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU)
Transforming Raw Land into a Tiny Home Oasis
This 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 1,113 sq. ft. tiny home project in Pioneer, California (about 60 miles east of Sacramento in Amador County) transformed a bare plot of land into a functional dream home.
Despite challenges like bringing in utilities and winter construction, the project included unique features like a master bath tub within the shower and pre-wiring for motorized blinds, all completed within a 10-month timeframe.
Project Highlights
Land Clearing:Â 17 trees removed, 1 acre masticated to comply with Calfire requirements.
Utilities:Â Brought in water, power, and sewer to the property.
Electrical:Â Installed panel inside the home and transfer switch outside for generator backup (due to frequent outages).
Deck:Â Positioned home to allow for a large deck overlooking the back of the property.
Master Bathroom: Custom shower with tub inside, designed to meet the client’s vision and budget. Barn door style shower glass for a beautiful finish.
Timeline:Â 10 months, including utility installation, winter construction, and tree clearing.
Unique Features:Â Wood burning fireplace in the ADU & windows wired for motorized blinds.
